Faculty of Education

The Faculty of Education at the Technical University of Liberec has educated 1200 graduates for teaching professions within it's 15 years of existence. It has ranked among the renowned faculties of education in Czech Republic. It can be proud of attracting a constant interest in its study programmes among secondary schools graduates, as well as people of profession, wishing to complete their education. It offers structured study programmes. It has accreditation in three-year bachelor studies of non-master specializations as well as master specializations for elementary, first and second stage, and secondary schools. Language teaching is at a high level of quality.

The Faculty of Education TUL promotes the philosophy of prospective teaching professions. The credo of its leadership is that teaching is not only an employment but also a mission requiring the whole personality of the teacher. A teacher should not only transmit knowledge but be an example for pupils, even in her/his way of life.

The Faculty of Education TUL prepares graduates of quality with broad employment opportunities. The evidence of quality is given by the fact that around 50 percent of the faculty graduates remain faithful to the teaching profession and 10 percent even teach in secondary schools. Graduates of the bachelor study programme Special Pedagogy deal with problematic pre-school children and special educative activities. Graduates of the study programme Social Work focus on disabled people and seniors. Though, graduates of bachelor studies successfully assert themselves even outside the educational field, as for example, public administration or institutions related to sports, especially leisure sports. This only confirms the quality and the multi-functionality of the undergraduate preparation. The faculty is expanding its offer of non-teacher programmes and offers also the much requested part-time form of study.

The Faculty of Education TUL, especially its departments of natural sciences, physics, chemistry and applied mathematics, is engaged in the scientific and research activities of the university and in research activities in enterprises. Students join scientific work by carrying out specific research and participating in professional and artistic activities. The best works are presented abroad. The faculty is also proud of its Department of Physical Education, where top sportsmen study.
